Five Years Later…A Little Later

By almaniac

I want to comment about this, mostly for my own self-edification (the original intent of why I got into this whole blogging mess). However, time is proving to be elusive right now. I just wanted to assure/warn you that I have not lost the wherewithall to comment about something like 9/11 and where we stand five years after the towers fell.

Rich, have you seen United 93 (the Paul Greengrass movie, not the cheesy made for TV thing)? My wife and I watched it 2 nights ago on DVD. I think it should be required viewing for anyone going to fly on an airliner. After seeing this movie, I will no longer be upset at having to take off my shoes when I go through the security check points at an airport.
One of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time.
And sorry, there are no snakes on it. : )

I have yet to see “United 93,” Joel. However, I do have a strong interest in seeing it, especially since I’ve been watching a lot of 9/11 related material on television (I just saw the HBO documentary “Nine Innings from Ground Zero,” which chronicles the Yankees run to the World Series after 9/11). It’s an important film for me to watch, just because it’s important to me that I don’t waver on the feeling of how devastating that day was. That film will help me keep that focus, in that sense.

I hear there’s no Samuel L. Jackson in the movie, either.

Not to make light of the topic, but it sounds like you’re getting dangerously close to a new idea for Jon’s That’s It site…
